Australian Codeine Rescheduling Shows No Increase in Opioid Prescriptions - ABC's 7.30 Report

Melissa Middleton & A/Prof Suzanne Nielsen of the Monash Addiction Research Centre (MARC) investigated the changes in opioid prescribing trends following the 2018 up-scheduling of over-the-counter codeine in Australia. The study found that in the year following, there was no suggestion of an increase in higher strength codeine prescriptions or in other prescription-only opioids.
